Superlegalization

is a consular legalization of public documents to be used before the authorities of a foreign country.

It may be used as a verification method, if a Slovak public deed is to be used in states, which do not have a contract on exemption from legalisation with the Slovak Republic, by means of a bilateral international agreement and which are not Member States of the above mentioned Agreement. Public document

Documents with the stamp of a Slovak authority/office or officer and the signature of official persons) issued by the Slovak authorities must be used before the authorities of a foreign country or before the authorities abroad with legalization (verification of authenticity) – the so-called Apostille verification or consular superlegalization.

Apostille

Slovak Republic acceded to the Hague Convention abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents (the Hague Convention on Apostille), which simplifies the conditions for the use of public documents issued by the authorities of a Contracting State in the territory of another Contracting State.

Therefore one specific certificate – apostille – affixed by a designated authority to the public documents to be used in the Slovak Republic, as well as Slovak documents to be used in the Contracting Parties to the Convention, is sufficient to establish its authenticity. Public document provided with an Apostille can be used without further verification in any Contracting State of the Convention and before any of its authorities.
